Our Story

Bindi Community Yoga Owners

Our New Location

Bindi Yoga Center was founded in 2012 by Mother and Daughter Susan Rennert and Michelle Hamoui.  Over the years, Bindi reached tens of thousands of people in the community and changed the lives of countless students, teachers and staff. One of those people who’s life was changed dramatically is the new owner of Bindi Community Yoga, Shanah Walter. Shanah was a client for 11 years and taught at Bindi for 10. In December of 2023, sadly the Lynnwood Bindi location closed.  So many were heartbroken; the closure left a hole in the yoga community and hearts of many.  We are grateful to step up and meet this need.

With much support, (and some *light* bullying), Shanah was inspired to take the torch from Susan and Michelle and find Bindi a new home for her next chapter.  Shanah was able to secure that new location in Mountlake Terrace and the doors opened on March 1st 2025, offering a fresh start for our community to once again come together to practice.

What makes Bindi Community Yoga so special? It is our COMMUNITY!  When Bindi reopened in Mountlake Terrace, there was one small but significant change of adding COMMUNITY to the name; this was done to carry on and emphasize what was created by Michelle & Susan and to welcome in new people to the space.  Bindi was a place where people gathered and practiced for years and will now be able to gather once again and feel supported on their yoga journey, as well as in their life. Yoga is so powerful when practiced together. Breath work is transformative especially when shared. Laughing…at times crying… and encouraging one another on and off the mat is integral to what gives Bindi her beating heart. We are a community and we are so excited for you to join us!

We believe yoga is for EVERY BODY. We believe in inclusion and accessibility. We believe in a practice which is rooted in the traditions from which it has been lent to us. We believe that with yoga you can change your body and your mind, and that can change the world. We believe in the power of community, and we believe in you.

Namaste and so much love,

Shanah & the Bindi Team
